What we should be aiming for is maximizing the chance of allowing ourselves to be lucky. Try not to bet against yourself by staking more than is necessary to win the same amount anyway, and remember to take into account the amount of the total stake that is spent even when you win. Remember this rule when playing roulette; the more you spread the bet out, the more it seems like you are winning, but when you do win your winnings are becoming less and less adequate compared to the expense of your stakes and the inevitable big losses when none of your chips come in. So where does that bring us, well, bearing all this in mind I would say one of the best roulette strategies is to pick just a few numbers on, say, the high number side of the roulette table (19 to 36) and stake the same total amount on "low" (1 to 18) - at evens. Then if your chosen numbers refuse to drop in, at least the odds are slightly in your favor that you may be covering much of your losses because the ball is temporarily landing more on the opposite side of the roulette table. Also, the opposite is also true; if the ball is not landing on "low" as much as "high", you stand a chance that it could be temporally landing on your numbers more than the natural odds would predict. If you give the above strategy a go you will need to be prepared to lose or be even most of the time in order to gain occasional good wins. That's how it will work, it is a good value bet, but it's up to you to decide if you are prepared to take on the risk or not. ANOTHER MISTAKE TO AVOID IN BEATING THE ROULETTE WHEEL
The theory is that because there is an equal chance of each number dropping in, and because the law of chance dictates that numbers will always average out in the long run, then surely if a number has not dropped in for a high number of spins it must be due any time now. So you keep betting on that number because it must - by the law of averages - be a winner very soon. Nice theory, but my advice is completely forget about it. I don't care if a particular roulette number has not dropped in for 10,000 spins, this does not mean that it is any more likely to be the next winner. Of course the odds of that roulette number not being a winner for 10,000 spins are huge, true, but it is the odds at the beginning of the 10,000 spins when it is unlikely, not after the event. Once it has happened there is exactly a 36 to 1 chance of it landing in that number for the next spin. So here's another tip for you to remember: What has happened in the past has no influence on what will happen in the future. Remember this fact as part of your roulette strategy the next time you see someone betting on a certain number, or a color etc., because that particular bet has not won for a while. It may or may not win, if it feels like a good idea and you're prepared to take the risk then go for it by all means. But whether it wins or loses is down to luck and not down to the fact that it was due to win. PLAYING ROULETTE WISE WITH PROFIT AND LOSS RATIOS Here's a good rule of thumb: If the odds ran exact you could expect to lose the value of your average stake per bet over 37 games. For example, if you were placing five dollars on the table each spin, then after 37 spins you would be five dollars in loss. Of course it is very unlikely that the odds will be exact, but it gives you a rough idea of what the odds are against you when playing roulette. This is why the casino always has a slight advantage. So what do we do? In reality what will happen most of the time is that the money you begin with will rise and fall, with the pull being a little more (only slightly) in the favor of a fall. Of course it can shoot one way or the other quickly and without warning, but this is the nature of the game. Most of the time however, if you're playing sensibly, you should find a slow and steady sway between profit and loss. So let's use this fact to our advantage. Decide on a certain amount you are prepared to lose (let's say for this example $60) and stop playing when you win half that amount ($30). So the strategy is you should place a bet that is, say 10% ($6 for this example), of the total amount you are prepared to lose on red or black (I like playing on the colors/high-low/odds-evens as part of my roulette strategy because it cuts the house advantage due to you only losing half your stake when zero drops in, see roulette rules). Then you just keep placing this same bet until you either win half what you started with ($30), or lose the whole lot. With this strategy you should walk away winning most of the time simply because it's easier to reach the winning cut-off point than the losing one.
Here's another good roulette strategy you may enjoy; notice that the roulette table is split into three length-way columns (i.e. 1-34, 2-35, and 3-36). The column with the numbers 3-36 has eight red numbers and only four black numbers. We can try to use this fact to our advantage. Place one chip on red and two chips on column 1-34 and two chips on column 2-35. Now, most of the time you should be winning, but when the ball sways in favor of the 3-36 column over a period (which will happen) the odds are in our favor it will land on red more than black so our losses are cut. This means that in the long run you have a good chance of winning more than you lose unless you're being very unlucky. Or look at it this way, because the roulette ball will more than likely sway in favor of one of the three columns over a given period, we don't have to be too lucky to have picked the right one as we have covered two out of three. However, when the ball does land in the 3-36 column more than the other two over a period we have a little back-up insurance to cover us by also betting on red at the same time (because most numbers in this column are red). HOW TO CANCEL-OUT LOSSES AND SAFEGUARD WINS IN ROULETTE With a roulette strategy like the one described above you should win small amounts most of the time with bigger losses less often. Because of this you may like to try raising your stake slightly on a loss. Simply raise your stakes on a loss and lower it again after a couple of wins. This can help to cancel-out losses and partly safeguards wins. NEVER keep doubling up even if you can afford it as this is definitely a recipe for losing a fortune sooner or later and turning your roulette experience into your worst nightmare. So just stick with a relatively safe roulette strategy or strategies until you either lose your pre-determined amount (e.g. say forty dollars if you are prepared to lose this much), or win half of it (e.g. twenty dollars). With a good roulette strategy you could easily reach the twenty dollar win level easier, and more often, than you reach the loss level. Base your roulette strategy on a longer term plan. I hope you won't start off in an unlucky fashion but if you do please don't dismiss the above roulette strategies because they offer a few good quick tips for how to win more than you lose. But remember you are still GAMBLING and as such you are always putting yourself in a situation where you could lose your money in the hope of winning some. CAUTION: Make sure the online casino you join is licensed, secure and certified as a fair and safe gaming environment. Remember to look for the best bonuses you can find. The best current offer I can find is from Jackpot City. Finally, I recommend you practice these free roulette strategies first by using virtual money (rather than your own real money) to get used to them. Most casinos will provide a European roulette table option (with only one zero), and the option to play without using real money. Good luck!
