A Business Plan of Action

CRITICAL ASPECTS OF BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL HOME BASED BUSINESS WEBSITE

Now I want to outline all the necessary steps to starting and succeeding in your home based business. Each step is very important so please don't disregard any lightly:

Step 1.
Get a domain name. You may not be considered a serious business without one.

Step 2.
You'll need some web-space on a relatively good fast loading server (with no ads). You need only pay a small amount for this or even get it free. But don't use the first you find. Consider many suppliers to be sure you pick the best you can find for your needs.

Step 3.
Find key phrases. You need to know the most popular actual search phrases people are using related to the theme of your site. The best service for helping you with this is Wordtracker. Use a key phrase rather than a single word. This will make it easier to get a higher search engine ranking, and will also pull you much more targeted visitors.

Step 4.
Start to create and build your web pages based on the key phrases you have found at step 3 above. Try to optimize each page you create using the techniques described earlier in this course.

Step 5.
Start building up your link popularity. This can be a very time consuming job but is important in order to get a good placement on the top search engines. Submit to directories as described on the next page. For managing and creating link exchanges with other sites of a similar theme to yours you can use software to help take care of this process for you such as Axandra. They offer a free trial if this interests you.

That's basically it, but just a couple more tips:

Your index page (this is often referred to as the home page) should be considered the most important page for optimizing with the very best key phrases you can find within your chosen theme. The search engines will place a greater priority on this page than the inner pages of your site. However, ensure every page is optimized for alternative but similar key phrases. Then every page acts as a potential way to be found; i.e. an entry page to your site for those alternative key search phrases.

Around three quarters of all Internet users browse using Microsoft's "Internet Explorer" (the rest using any of the many available). To be certain your site looks as it should do in alternative browsers (or at least the most important ones), go here. This site shows you if there will be any viewing problems in alternative browsers. Also, check out how your pages look with different screen resolutions here.

On the final page of this free course I'm going to show you how to make your website really popular and busy with traffic.
